People at the Center

Behind every kilo transformed, there are real people: waste generators, haulers, processors, and recyclers.

Most of your support goes straight to them — and you see exactly how much.

Take the next step

Now it’s your turn.

Every person who joins lifts a little weight off the planet and puts more income into the hands of those who care for the land — with proof at every step.

How it works

The solution is simple and it’s already working.

Three steps: you choose a package, Carrot puts it to work in a real project, and the day’s scraps become compost and income. Every step is recorded — yours to follow.

The Invisible Crisis

Every day, the food we leave on the plate goes into a bin and out of our minds. It doesn’t disappear, though. It just goes somewhere else, and where it goes changes everything.

Sent to a landfill, it turns into a problem for the whole planet. Sent to composting, it turns into healthy soil and into income for the people who collect it. Same leftovers, two very different endings.

Methane, the Fastest Solution

When food scraps rot in a landfill, they release methane, a gas that heats the planet far faster than carbon dioxide. The same scraps, sent to composting instead, feed the next harvest.

That’s what makes organic waste such an unusual problem. Solving it is the fastest way to slow warming, and it starts with something as ordinary as what’s left on a plate.

Change within reach

Change is possible

Lighter air for the planet

Organic waste kept out of the landfill stops turning into methane, a super pollutant gas that speeds up global warming in the short term.

Compost back to the soil

What used to be waste becomes compost and nutrients, giving life back to the soil instead of rotting in a landfill.

Income for the people who care for the land.

Most of your contribution becomes income for the people who make environmental work happen every day.

Healthy Skepticism

The questions we like being asked.

We'd rather answer the hard questions: every answer below has a document, a defined scope, and a public link.

  • No — and we never say that. Your purchase funds verified methane prevention: organic waste diverted from landfill, with credits retired to your account. Your own emissions still exist; what you funded is a verified reduction elsewhere. It's a contribution claim, which is why nothing here is called 'neutral' or 'zero'.

  • Two verified credits, retired to your account. The Carbon Credit represents methane prevented from ever reaching the atmosphere. The Recycling Credit certifies that the recycling happened, with its co-benefits, without claiming any climate benefit. Nothing is counted twice.

  • Yes — and it's only possible because we sell contribution, not neutrality. Any fraction is honest: the registry retires fractions individually, with a certificate of its own. A promise to 'zero your footprint' can't be sliced; real contribution can.

  • Sources: the UNEP/CCAC Global Methane Assessment ('nearly a third of current warming') and the IEA Global Methane Tracker ('around 30% of the rise in global temperatures'). That's why we say 'nearly a third' or '~30%' — never a flat '1/3'. Claim under internal validation.

  • No. In Brazil, composting reaches only 0.4% of municipal waste — landfill is the default. Credit revenue is what makes diversion viable at scale. The Zero Waste International Alliance treats 90% diversion as the zero-waste threshold; below that, diverting waste is not business as usual — it's additional.

  • Three layers: the carbon framework is built on the UNFCCC AMS-III.F methodology; Bureau Veritas independently validated the BOLD Carbon framework and verified a pilot in the field (February 2025) — scope limited to the framework; and every kilo carries a traceable MassID on the public Carrot Explorer.

  • Because you're not buying a promise. Every tonne is digitally measured (dMRV), traceable back to its origin, and retired individually to your account. The price reflects that integrity, not a discount race — you know exactly what you bought, and you can prove it with a link.

  • They're conservative estimates, and we say so everywhere. The real factor varies by waste type and each site's landfill scenario. Your final certificate reflects the actual mass and credits of your retirement, auditable on the Carrot Explorer.
